La Balsa Rafts Ballina T-Shirt

La Balsa Rafts Ballina 1973: This design uses an image selected from the Lance Skinner Slide Collection. Lance took this photo as the La Balsa Rafts docked at Ballina NSW Australiain in 1973. Lance and his family launched their 22ft boat and met the rafts several kilometers offshore of Ballina and escorted them in as they were towed by local trawlers over the notorious Ballina bar. This image depicts the crowd that gathered near the local sailing club to greet the adventurers. Sadly Lance passed away two years later in a rafting accident at a local river. His son Fred, a photographer and printmaker has scanned his entire slide collection. This image is also available as a cyanotype print.
