La Clownesse (The Clown) Cha-U-Kao at the "Night Club" (1895) by Toulouse Lautrec is a vintage post impressionism art nouveau fine art portrait painting featuring "the clown" in her dressing room fastening a yellow ruffle to the bodice of her costume. She was a dancer and clown at the Nouveau Cirque and Cha-U-Kao owes her Japanese sounding name to the phonetic transcription of the French words "chahut" (the cancan) and "chaos" referring to the uproar that occurred when she came on stage.
About the artist:
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec (1864-1901) was a French post impressionism painter and was known as one of the greatest painters of the Post Impressionist period.

Great price for a very nice product. Arrived a day early - unheard of these days. The outside gold area has a little more orange tone to it than shown in the picture. Great packing so product can't get damaged. I used the same packing to forward the clock to my brother and sister-on-law for the 50th wedding anniversary. Printing was just as expected - lovely!

My 93- yr. old Dad has everything.....and now including a clock with pictures of him in action!
Was initially a bit difficult to size & position the pictures in each space, but the end product was worth the effort. He enjoyed it and it was definitely a unique way of memorializing good times in his life. Quality of print was good.
