Lady with Maidservant Holding Letter Vermeer Throw Pillow

Lady with Maidservant Holding a Letter by Johannes Vermeer, oil on canvas 1667, is a painting of two female figures set against a stark, dark interior background. The maid, subtly modeled in deep chiaroscuro reminiscent of Rembrandt, holds a bright white letter at the center of the composition. The lady, elegantly dressed in yellow fur coat with pearls and seated before a blue tablecloth, is a cool, classical figure gesturing with hand to chin. This large picture plays a symphonic coloristic contrast of warm yellows, vivid white and cool ultramarine blue tones. Vermeer epitomizes the realism, attention to detail, and jewel-like glazed oil colors of the “Little Dutch Masters” of the Baroque era. Johannes (Jan) Vermeer (1632 - 1675) was a Dutch master painter of interior genre scenes whose works were rediscovered in the 19th century. In carefully constructed, geometric compositions drawn in meticulous linear perspective, Vermeer explored the effects of light and color across human figures, objects and textures in sunlit, domestic rooms, building upon the optical discoveries and 3D perspectival depth of Leonardo and the Renaissance. Both a painter and an art dealer, Vermeer slowly produced a few of his painstakingly executed, richly pigmented compositions per year, living entirely within his home city of Delft, eschewing the fame of his near contemporaries Rubens and Rembrandt that he achieved finally in the modern era.

Fabric is very nice and of good quality. I like that there are many colors to choose from and you can have a different color on the back side if you choose. The pillow was to be 16" x 16" but ran a bit small. (14.5") Still happy just recommend you get a larger size . Design came out great. Colors were vivid and the overall quality is quite nice. Will definately order again. Highly recommend because it not only shipped super fast but overall I love the results!

I wanted something special for my daughter. I made this for my baby and she will have this in her crib when she is born. It was not pixelated. The picture was very very clear.0

This pillow has a striking design that comes from an original piece of art by artist Debbie Gibbs to celebrate the intersection of identities. It makes a unique gift for anyone wishing to message equality, inclusion, equity and justice. Placed just so in an office or home, it makes a strong statement. We love i on our covered patio/outdoor kitchen. It is holding up very well outside. Outstanding print quality!
