Matamoe, Landscape with Peacocks (1892) by Paul Gauguin is a vintage fine art post impressionism nature painting in Tahiti. A typical Tahitian landscape scene with trees in the jungle. A native man is playing a musical instrument, peacocks and other animals, birds and wildlife are on the edge of the forest in a village. About the artist: Eugène Henri Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) was a leader in the Post Impressionist movement which extended Impressionism while rejecting its limitations. They used vivid colors, thick application of paint, distinctive brushstrokes and real-life subject matter, but were more inclined to emphasize geometric forms and to use unnatural or arbitrary color.
