Jack-o'-lanterns, carved with grotesque smiles, leered from windowsills, casting flickering shadows on the revelers. Ichabod, desperate, urged his horse forward. But as he burst through the other side, he came face-to-face with Brom Bones, his face contorted in a maniacal grin. --- Then came the shocking revelation. It turned out that the Horseman, the ghost stories, the entire night; it had all been an elaborate scheme concocted by Katrina and Brom to humiliate and eliminate Ichabod. As for the Horseman's head? Let's just say Ichabod never forgot the chilling laughter that echoed through the night as Brom revealed his gruesome trophy; a hollowed-out pumpkin, its eyes glowing with an infernal light. --- Ichabod Crane vanished from Sleepy Hollow that night, leaving only whispers and rumors in his wake.
