This design features a painting by the English painter Edward John Poynter (1836–1919), who served as President of the Royal Academy. It shows Lesbia, which was the literary pseudonym used by the Roman poet Catullus (circa 82–52 BC) to refer to his lover. She has a pet sparrow perched on her wrist, looking into her eyes. It is an elegant depiction of feminine beauty. The original painting was completed in 1907.
