I remember leaving California at the age of 17 to my first college in Virginia, whining about it the first month (and cherishing it after that), and every time I would call, Daddy would say, "Just do the best you can and enjoy it honeybabe!". Well, my reaction was wondering how someone could do the best they can and have time to enjoy .... until I did both. I even enjoyed doing the best I could to the point of honor rolls, unsolicited scholarships, Phi Theta and Beta Kappa ... : ) As the songs say (and you are too young to even know the song) those were the days my friend.... you've only just begun .... You are also too young to recall life without cell phones. I made those nightly calls home on my favorite payphone at the end of a row of payphones on my hall. It was my favorite phone, because when I put my quarter in to call collect, it gave me approximately $6.00 back in quarters - like my own little slot machine ... : ) Again, congrats!
