Cougars or mountain lions are New World animals, found in rocky mountain habitats from British Columbia in Canada to the spine of the Andes into countries such as Argentina and Chile. Cougars are the largest of the "small cat" family. The "big cat" family includes Old World animals like lion, jaguar or tiger.
