Manet Boating Postcard
Manet Boating postcard. Oil on canvas from 1874. Manet painted several different boat paintings during his career, Boating is perhaps the most personal and vibrant. Boating depicts a young couple in a sale boat. The young man with his hand on the rudder wears a simple white shirt, straw hat, and mustache, while the young woman leans down in the boat in a fancy blue and white dress with an elegant feathered hat. The water through which they sail is blue and calm. A beautiful gift for fans of Manet, sailing, early impressionism, and famous boat paintings.
