Manet used fellow impressionist painter Monet's approach to painting quickly, out of doors in the plein aire style associated with impressionist painters. This impressionist painting of a family in the garden was painted in the summer of 1874, when Manet painted the Monet family who were living nearby. This painting is of Camille Monet and Jean; Claude Monet is gardening at the left. Renoir was also in the garden painting. A beautiful painting of a mother and son sitting in the midst of the French countryside.
