Marble Arch, London Postcard

The white marble monument Marble Arch stands in the heart of London's west end at the junction of Oxford Street with Park Lane and Hyde Park. Designed in 1825, until 1852 it stood in front to Buckingham Palace at the end of The Mall, and has been rebuilt on its present site. This view through the arch from the north side, invites the viewer to proceed through the arch into the ornamental gardens beyond, and thence into the comparative peace of Hyde Park.
