About This Design

Metaplanets Pluto Mug

Bernini's Pluto and Persephone grace this excellent planetary mug. The images of Pluto are based on james hastings-trew's conceptions from original satellite imagery of another frozen celestial sphere, Gannymede, as a more detailed view of Pluto is forthcoming from the space mission New Horizons in 2015. Pluto's true color is believed to be brown, tinted yellow. The astronomical symbol for Pluto is a P-L monogram, ?. This represents both the first two letters of the name Pluto and the initials of Percival Lowell, who searched extensively for a ninth planet.

This is a gorgeous mug that makes me feel as though I am outdoors in my Hosta garden, on a beautiful day in Spring! The printing is lovely and sharp just like my painting. I shall be displaying this mug at an exhibition soon!
