In the Torah Moshe Rabbenu is told, "You shall make a Menorah of pure gold, beaten out, shall the Menorah be made, its base, its branch, its goblets, its knobs, and its flowers shall be hammered from it, " [Shmot 25:31] and later, "See, and construct, according to their form that you are shown on the mountain."
