"The Extraction of the Stone of Madnesss" was painted by Hieronymous Bosch 1475-80 AD. This painting refers to the medieval extraction of a stone, thought to be the cause of the patient's madness. This painting inspired a 2002 short film with the same name. For reasons only known to the artist, a flower has been painted in the place of a stone.
