Multiplication table, 25 by 25. Great gift idea for a young student. Many math students struggle with their multiplication tables; I teach math, so I know. Math research says, if a student does not learn their multiplication tables by 8 years old, they may never learn them. For nearly 20 years I have taught struggling high school algebra students. In most cases they cannot do their times tables. I don't allow calculators in my classroom until near the end of the school year. All year long, we work with the times table posters on the walls in my classroom. Honestly, they don't learn their times tables but through practice they get to remember the common multiples that come up often, like the perfect squares, 12 times 12 and 25 times 25. I enjoy watching my students work and glance up at the multiplication tables to complete the work.
