Murdock Theater, Wichita, Kansas Postcard

Built in 1931 in Wichita, Kansas, at a cost of $50,000, the Louise C. Murdock Theater was designed with a "Spanish flair." Originally built as a performance art theater, in 2004, it was adapted to include film and video capabilities. The Louise C. Murdock Theater was built as an addition to the Victorian-era 20th Century Center building. Named after the founder of the 20th Century Club and a prominent local figure, Louise C. Murdock, the theater served as a performing arts center and lecture hall in its early days. The renovations preserved the historic integrity of the building, including its original frescoes, art deco chandeliers, shuttered windows, and grand balcony.
