Napkins - Cloth - Forsythia

My grandmother called them "Easter Bells", most likely because of the time of year that they bloom and the bell-like shape formed by the four, long petals on each tiny flower. Unlike most other flowers or flowering shrubs, forsythia is a yellow-only flower . . . it does not come in any other color. In Victorian floriography, the language of flowers, forsythia symbolizes "anticipation". Forsythia is also equated with good feelings and hope . . . perhaps because it is one of the first plants to flower in the spring, and the resulting blooms are such a cheerful, bright yellow. From a more contemporary perspective, the lovely forsythia also represents "good nature" and "innocence". A Korean legend associates the forsythia with the rebirth or rejuvenation of love. This delightful, flowering shrub is also known as "golden bells" and is, believe it or not, a member of the same family as olive trees.
