Napoleon Crossing the Alps key chain. Oil painting on canvas from 1800. French artist Jacques-Louis David’s Napoleon Crossing the Alps is the most famous depiction of the French general and emperor. The work depicts Napoleon riding a white horse on its hind legs with his red cape flowing about him and his right hand pointed forward toward victory. The piece was painted five different times with differing tones and brightness. This version is the Belevedere issue from 1800 and features the darkest reds and blues. A great gift for fans of Jacques-Louis David, Napoleon, French history, and French art.
