Native American Red Black Haida Art Otter Salmon Wine Charm

Native American Red Black Haida Art Otter Salmon Wine Charm

Decorate your wine glass with a beautiful Otter chasing Salmon from British Columbia, Canada. The background is red, beige, blue or green. Prey and Predator. That is the theme of my new Haida form-line styled otter chasing salmon drawing. I'm not actually sure otters eat salmon, but I like the idea to put a predator and prey into a Yin and Yang symbol. Do prey and predator not complement each other? Due to my family in British Columbia, for instance Vancouver BC, Haida Form-line art has been part of my life. The Pacific Northwest coast is a beautiful place where I spent some happy holidays and a couple of years ago I decided to learn some of its native art. Form-line is an indigenous art made by the First Nation people of Northwest coast of North America. The term form-line is invented by Bill Holm. We use the word since 1965, but the art is many hundreds of years old. The idea is to create a flowing continuous line with increasing and decreasing thickness. We get negative spaces with a dominant black outline. The negative spaces are filled with form-line type ornaments or elements. The main forms are ovoids, U forms and S forms. With these forms the artist composes a complete form-line.

These wine charms would make for an ideal stocking stuffer. They're very sweet and can also be used for other things besides on wine glasses for non-wine drinkers. I have one attached to my keys and I'm planning on making some earrings out of some others. You could also add them to a charm bracelet or a dog collar. They're very light weight. The print quality is clear and sharp. These do a great job of showing off my Create With Photos oyster-themed designs, even at such a small size.

I purchased these photo wine charms for myself and my other half, as the photos of our faces made it obvious which wine glasses were ours. I like the concept so much that I am planning to purchase some as gifts. I added beads to ours to make them more interesting. The way the wire on these is bent makes it easy to slip the beads right on without any tools. Both the wire and the discs are metal and a nice quality. The charms are simple to put on glasses and to take off. The printing is fine for its purpose. It is not the sharpest photo, even though you would expect it to be a little clearer being that it is so small. But perhaps that is as clear as this process can make it. One of our four charms came with a weird white mark on it, due to something that happened during the printing process. Fortunately, their customer service responded immediately and sent a replacement, so I was very happy with their service.
