Native American Red Black Haida Weeping Skull Locket Necklace

Native American Red Black Haida Weeping Skull Locket Necklace

Buy your friend this classy necklace with a beautiful Haida Weeping Skull from British Columbia, Canada. The background is green. You can't go wrong with Northwest coast Haida art, it's been popular for decades. These First Nations designs are ideal for apparel and always look good. This is my first attempt to an original design. The skull is a subject which is often depicted in art. I designed this formline skull in the frontal with one eye having a tear. Due to my family in British Columbia, for instance Vancouver BC, Haida Form-line art has been part of my life. The Pacific Northwest coast is a beautiful place where I spent some happy holidays and a couple of years ago I decided to learn some of its native art. Form-line is an indigenous art made by the First Nation people of Northwest coast of North America. The term formline is invented by Bill Holm. We use the word since 1965, but the art is many hundreds of years old. The idea is to create a flowing continuous line with increasing and decreasing thickness. We get negative spaces with a dominant black outline. The negative spaces are filled with formline type ornaments or elements. The main forms are ovoids, U forms and S forms. With these forms the artist composes a complete formline.

We bought this as a gift for our granddaughter who portrayed the White Rabbit in her School play of Alice in Wonderland. She loved it and is wearing it proudly each and every day to school. Design was perfect and just as we expected

This is a very good quality silver plated locket necklace and even though it looks lovely in the photo, it is so much prettier in person. I wear it nearly everyday and it has been just fine with no problems either with the chain or with the locket itself. The first thing I noticed was the weight. I'm not saying it's heavy, but it feels good and solid, not cheap or flimsy like it will break in a couple of days. I am very pleased with the photo print. It is excellent! The picture image is exactly what I designed and ordered on the website. I have a loved pet's memorial photo inside of mine and occasionally kiss it for good luck.

I designed this as a gift for my grandmother to wear on my wedding day as a remembrance of my deceased grandfather (her husband) who was a pig farmer. I think it is going to be a great gift that she will love forever! The printing came out perfect!
