New Haven Railroad 1956 Map Mug

New Haven Railroad 1956 Map Mug

From www.railphotoexpress.biz New Haven Railroad 1956 Map Railway was formed July 24, 1872 The New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad was formed July 24, 1872 through the consolidation of the New York and New Haven Railroad and Hartford and New Haven Railroad. It owned a main line from New York City to Springfield, Massachusetts via New Haven and Hartford, and Connecticut and leased other lines, including the Shore Line Railway to New London. The New Haven went on to lease more lines and systems, eventually forming a virtual railway monopoly in New England south of the Boston and Albany Railroad. Competition from government subsidized highways and airlines, high rates of taxation, enormous commuter service losses, and the out-migration of heavy industry from New England to the south and west caused the New Haven Railroad to go bankrupt in 1961. After a decade of struggling along the New Haven Railroad was absorbed by the ill-fated Penn Central Railway Company on January 1st, 1969.

This is a gorgeous mug that makes me feel as though I am outdoors in my Hosta garden, on a beautiful day in Spring! The printing is lovely and sharp just like my painting. I shall be displaying this mug at an exhibition soon!
