New York State Capitol Building Postcard

New York State Capitol Building Postcard

"New York State Capitol Building" by Catherine Sherman On a rainy October day, male and female mallard ducks rest next to the reflecting pool on Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller Empire State Plaza, Albany, New York. A slanted board helps the ducks to enter and exit the pool. Beyond is the New York State Capitol building, which was built between 1867 and 1899. Three teams of architects worked on the design of the Capitol during the 32 years of its construction. It was one of the most expensive government buildings of its time. The architecture style is Romanesque Revival and Neo-Renaissance. It is one of 11 U.S. State Capitol buildings that doesn't have a dome, although the central court is designed for a dome. The capitol building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1971, then included as a contributing property when the Lafayette Park Historic District was listed in 1978. The New York State Capitol was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1979.

I joined Postcrossing a few months ago and wanted postcards to represent my state well. I found them on Zazzle. I purchased numerous cards and was impressed with all of them. Excellent! The colors are beautiful. The cards have the exact look I wanted. I couldn't be happier.
