No For Christmas Poem Poster

I wrote this poem and never realized how very true it was until this year. We are currently into a major home renovation and are purging anything we can. The last thing we need is more stuff we don't actually need. My wife makes sure we have Christmas lists, but no one else in my family gives a decent list. So this poem I wrote years ago (2014) popped into my head and I pulled it out of my old file storage. I placed it on a green background and added some graphics of wrapped presents. The title of the poem is "What I Don't Want for Christmas". Author is Kristopher Ivie (that's me). The poem reads:// I have too much stuff already/ I don't really need any more/ But you expressed you need to know/ Exactly what I'm looking for// I'd be okay with anything/ Well maybe not, so here's a list/ Here are the things you need to know/ Of what I don't want for Christmas// Socks are okay if they are plain/ No ugly sweaters for my feet/ Please don't give me any candy/ I'm trying to lay off the sweets// Handmade gifts are perfectly fine/ But I'm not wearing crocheted shorts/ I don't need scarves or oven mitts/ Or anything else of that sort// Nothing from an informercial/ Or any assembly required/ Nothing that embarrasses me/ Or easily catches on fire// Don't buy it on Thanksgiving Day/ Or on the morning that follows/ I don't need anything that bad/ I'll be exchanging it tomorrow// A gift card is your safest bet/ But don't make me drive fifty miles/ If you don't like what I bought you/ You can at least pretend to smile//
