Nordic Ski Club Postcard
The Norden Ski Club was organized in 1887 in Ishpeming, Michigan. In 1888, it changed its name to Den Nordiske Ski Club (the Nordic Ski Club) to reflect its Norwegian heritage. In 1901, the name was changed to the Ishpeming Ski Club With the arrival of Finns. Ishpeming held the first organized ski tournament on Lake Superior Hill in 1891 with 200 participants.
