The Trolley Problem is probably one of the more well-known thought experiments that philosophers love dreaming up, often at the pub well into a long liquid lunch, in order to get people thinking about ethical dilemmas and stuff. This is a particularly good and gnarly one and not only because it was dramatized brilliantly on the all-round brilliant The Good Place, but because the stakes can continually be raised, leading to ever more extreme and gnarlier scenarios including pushing people off bridges and organ harvesting. Good philosophical fun in other words.
