Ocean liner Rotterdam 1910

Boulogne sur Mer Oceanliner Rotterdam 1910 Boulogne-sur-Mer translates to "a port in Northern France, on the English Channel" in English. The French epithet "sur-Mer" means "on-the-sea" and distinguishes the city from Boulogne-Billancourt, which is on the edge of Paris. Boulogne-sur-Mer is an ancient Roman city and the first fresh fishing port in Europe. The SS Rotterdam was scrapped in the Netherlands in 1940. The former Holland America liner and cruise ship Rotterdam is now a floating hotel and museum in its namesake port of Rotterdam, Holland. The ships' names for Holland America Line all end in "dam" and are derived from Dutch landmarks, points of the compass, or dams that protect the country from flooding. The Rotterdam is the fourteenth ship built for Holland America Line at the Marghera shipyard
