He was killed when his retainer Akechi Mitsuhide rebelled against him at Honno-ji. 天下布武 seal: The red seal is the Tenka Fubu seal used by Oda Nobunaga after the Siege of Inabayama Castle, Tenka Fubu means "All the world by force of arms" or "Rule the Empire by Force" In the background is the kamon (family crest) of Oda, Oda mokko (織田瓜) or "Oda quince flowers", following Oda Nobunaga Kao (花押, samurai signature), and another kamon Eirakusen (永楽銭) or "Ming Dynasty Eiraku Tsuho coin".
