Offering to Pele, Hawaiian Volcano Goddess Postcard

Offering to Pele, Hawaiian Volcano Goddess Postcard

"Offering to Pele, Hawaiian Volcano Goddess" by Catherine Sherman. Anthurium and ginger flowers are placed at Kīlauea Volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii as an offering to Pele, Hawaiian Goddess of fire, lightning, dance and volcanoes. Pele's home is believed to be the fire pit called Halemaʻumaʻu crater, at the summit caldera of Kīlauea, which is one of the Earth's most active volcanoes; but her domain encompasses all volcanic activity on the Big Island of Hawaii. Halemaʻumaʻu is a pit crater within the much larger Kīlauea Caldera at the summit of Kīlauea volcano on island of Hawaiʻi. The roughly circular crater was 770 meters (2,530 feet) x 900 meters (2,950 feet) before collapses that roughly doubled the size of the crater after May 3, 2018. Following the collapses of 2018, the bottom of Halemaʻumaʻu was roughly 600 meters (2,000 feet) below the caldera floor. The volcano is part of Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. The park encompasses two active volcanoes: Kīlauea, one of the world's most active volcanoes, and Mauna Loa, the world's largest shield volcano.

I joined Postcrossing a few months ago and wanted postcards to represent my state well. I found them on Zazzle. I purchased numerous cards and was impressed with all of them. Excellent! The colors are beautiful. The cards have the exact look I wanted. I couldn't be happier.
