Official International symbol of access Square Sticker

Official International symbol of access Square Sticker

The International Symbol of Access (ISA), also known as the (International) Wheelchair Symbol, consists of a blue square overlaid in white with a stylized image of a person using a wheelchair. It is maintained as an international standard, ISO 7001, and a copyrighted image of the International Commission on Technology and Accessibility (ICTA), a committee of Rehabilitation International. It was designed by Susanne Koefoed in 1968. The symbol is often seen where access has been improved, particularly for wheelchair users, but also for other disability issue. Frequently, the symbol denotes the removal of environmental barriers, such as steps, to help also older people, parents with baby carriages, and travellers. Universal design aims to obviate the need for such symbols by creating products and facilities that are accessible to nearly all users from the start. The wheelchair symbol is "International" and therefore not accompanied by Braille in any particular language. Specific uses of the ISA include: * Marking a parking space reserved for vehicles used by disabled people/blue badge holders * Marking a vehicle used by a disabled person, often for permission to use a space * Marking a public lavatory with facilities designed for wheelchair users * Indicating a button to activate an automatic door * Indicating an accessible transit station or vehicle * Indicating a transit route that uses accessible vehicles (source wikipedia)

This product is a big help as it allows my Dad who is physically handicapped to be able to request assistance where ever he travels. He has placed the sticker on the car windshield where its easily recognizable. The image quality and the stickers are pretty good. The color is also just like viewed on the website. Its the same color used universally for the international symbol of access.

When I looked for the stickers on the Zazzle website, there was a very large selection to choose from. But in reading descriptions, I never say a warning that the ones that I chose were not weatherproof. I'd put one on the windshield of my Jeep, and the color was washed away from the bottom 25% of the sticker within minutes of the first downpour! The stickers seem to be of good quality otherwise, but if I'd know they weren't weatherproof, I would have either looked for some that are, or stickers that stick from the inside of a window. I'd planned to put one on my front door as well, to let attending emergency workers know that someone inside is disabled. Now, I can't do that, and find a way to attach these stickers to the inside of the windows instead. Other than that, they're fine! The printing was sharp and clear, with no color fading - until it got wet!
