Old Cape Henry Lighthouse Postcard
The Old Cape Henry Lighthouse at Fort Story in Virginia Beach, Virginia, completed in 1792, is one of the oldest existing lighthouses in the United States. George Washington authorized its construction and Alexander Hamilton oversaw the project. It was replaced by a newer lighthouse in 1881. Congress transferred ownership of the colonial Cape Henry lighthouse to Preservation Virginia in 1930. This rendition was created with pen and ink on Bristol vellum paper.
