Orangutan Baby Uttuh in Rainforest Postcard

This wildlife photo is from the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia, and it shows a recently rescued orangutan orphan at the famous OFI Care Center. This sweet little female is named Uttuh. OFI's founder began her work in the 1970's as one of three women chosen by Dr. Louis Leakey to study the great apes. Jane Goodall studied chimps in Africa, the late Dian Fossey studied mountain gorillas in Africa, and Dr. Birute Galdikas studied orangutans in Borneo. In 2012, Dr. Galdikas remains actively involved in preservation of rainforest habitat and this endangered species.
