Celebrate 40 years of heartwarming wildlife conservation while you keep warm, too. O.F.I. was founded in the 1980's, and at that point, its founder had already been working to save orangutans and their rain forest habitat for 13 years!
OFI has more than 350 orangutan orphans in its Care Center on the island of Borneo. Also, it has an active program of planting native trees in previously destroyed areas of the rain forest and helps to patrol Tanjung Puting National Park which is home to over 6,000 wild and rehabiltated orangutans- including Kusasi (the star of the Nature series program "From Orphan to King" and Akmad, the orangutan who was on the cover of the October 1975 National Geographic magazine.
