A traditional Japanese fish scale seamless pattern in traditional Dutch Delft blue. Deep blue on white is a beautiful traditional Chinese combination for porcelain, which was exported all over the world. It is a simple abstract design of fish scale you see a lot in Japanese prints. This kind of pattern is often used on fabric for yukata or a jinbei, traditional Japanese clothes for in the hot summer months. In Japan vintage techniques are roketsuzome with wax, katazome, yuzen and tsutsgaki with rice paste. A favorite method of applying paste is by means of a stencil.
