Palace in Fall Seoul South Korea Postcard

Palace in Fall Seoul South Korea Postcard

Gyeongbokgung Palace is the most famous and historically significant palace in Seoul, originally built in 1395 during the Joseon Dynasty. Its name means “Palace Greatly Blessed by Heaven,” and it served as the main royal residence and government center. The palace complex is massive, with impressive halls, pavilions, gates, and courtyards, showcasing traditional Korean architecture with intricate wooden designs, tiled roofs, and vibrant dancheong (colorful decorative painting). The palace was destroyed during Japanese invasions in the 16th century and later rebuilt in the 19th century, though restoration efforts continue today. One of the highlights of visiting Gyeongbokgung is the changing of the guard ceremony, which happens several times a day and features guards in traditional Joseon-era uniforms. The palace grounds also include the National Folk Museum of Korea and the National Palace Museum of Korea, giving visitors insight into Korean culture, history, and royal life. The palace is set against the backdrop of Bugaksan Mountain, creating a scenic combination of history and natural beauty. Walking through its gates and halls, visitors can get a sense of Korea’s royal past and the grandeur of its dynastic architecture.

I joined Postcrossing a few months ago and wanted postcards to represent my state well. I found them on Zazzle. I purchased numerous cards and was impressed with all of them. Excellent! The colors are beautiful. The cards have the exact look I wanted. I couldn't be happier.
