There are several species of turtles. Some, like the stone turtle and soft-shelled turtle, live in ponds, while sea turtles live in the ocean. The turtle that became a family crest is the stone turtle. There is a turtle-shaped design with hair-like protrusions all over it, resembling a straw raincoat. In family crests, this is called a 'straw coat turtle.' It is thought that this is not a special turtle separate from the straw coat turtle, but rather one with aquatic plants like algae growing on its shell, originating from the turtle shell itself. The 'Kokon Chomonjū' records that around 1145-1151, a turtle with hair about a foot long was presented to Chisoku-in Temple by someone from western Japan and was considered an auspicious turtle. I bought this as a wedding gift for my fiancé. His brother passed away six years ago and cannot attend our wedding this July. I searched the internet up and down with zero luck! I couldn’t give up and I came across this listing. My heart exploded with joy! He is going to love these so much. I showed my sister in law and my Matron of Honor and they both agreed he will truly be touched. I thank this shop so so much for creating this for me!! I plan to give him these in private before our rehearsal dinner on July 11, 2019. I can’t thank this shop/creator enough. The picture came out very clear. However, the printing “always by your side” is a little blurry. I’m not concerned about the blurry text because to me this gift is priceless. Highly recommend!

This was a wonderful addition to my husband’s tux and provided a piece of his father at our wedding. This was excellent quality. The handle piece broke from the picture side when it was dropped but it was perfect for our wedding and we will still keep it forever. .
