Paris Horse Market 1855 Kitchen Towel
Vintage lithograph of Le Marche aux Chevaux, by the most famous female painter of the 19th century, Rosa Bonheur. The original 8 foot by 16 foot oil painting made such an impression that it was exhibited at the Salon in Paris during 1853, two years before it was even finished. This Paris horse market took place on the tree-lined Boulevard de l’Hopital. Visible in the background on the left is the Pitie-Salpetriere Hospital.
