Philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (by Edvard Munch) Watch

This design features a painting of the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900) by the Norwegian artist Edvard Munch (1863–1944). Nietzsche's writings have had a significant impact on intellectual history and political thought since his death at the turn of the 20th century. In this painting, Friedrich Nietzsche is standing on a bridge that looms over a mountainous landscape. The composition and style of the work is reminiscent of Edvard Munch's masterpiece, "The Scream". The bright reds, oranges and yellows of the sky contrast with the darker colors that are used in the foreground; Nietzsche himself is wearing a a long black jacket over his suit and tie. The original artwork was completed in 1906.
