Paul de Longpre was a French flower artist born in Lyons, France in 1855. He and his brother, Raoul, helped his father decorate fans in his business in France. Later, Paul moved to Los Angeles, California, where he became well known for his beautiful flower paintings as well as his magnificent flower gardens in Hollywood. This particular painting was painted in 1891 while in France.
