Piri Reis Map Canvas Print
Piri Reis (about 1465 – 1554 or 1555) was an Ottoman-Turkish admiral and cartographer born between 1465 and 1470 in Gallipoli on the Aegean coast of Turkey. Today, people remember him because of the maps he made. He made the first Ottoman map to show parts of the Americas, the Piri Reis map, in 1513. He drew a second map in 1528. Only a fragment of that map survives today. That fragment however, shows parts of North America, including Greenland. It goes from the coast of Labrador and Newfoundland in the north, to Florida,Cuba and parts of Central America in the south. Therefore, some people believe he drew a map of the Arctic about 200 years before it was discovered.

Very impressive product! The canvas is sturdily made. It features a saw tooth hanger on the back, making it easy to "try out" the canvas in several rooms until I found the best location. It attracts good comments from my friends. I love it! The printing is wonderful! Colors are as bright and crisp as they appeared on the website.

I ordered this product to see what the quality was because I am selling it on my store. Plus it was on sale and it was an excellent price! I didn’t expect it to be as nice. It really is beautiful. I am relieved! The only thing I don’t like about it is the sawtooth hanger on the back. I prefer a wire hanging system. The sawtooth hanger was not even centered but I managed to hang it straight anyway. Overall I love it! I will add the wire myself. The printing was clear and crisp and the colors were excellent! The canvas was stretched tight and professionally done. I am very happy with the quality of the print!

I needed an odd size piece of art to cover an ugly electric box panel in my newly finished basement. This piece fit the bill exactly. I've always loved Alphonse Mucha's art and this product was the exact size and style I was looking for. The art is vivid and looks great in my new bathroom.
