PM 26 Melilla Car Magnet

El Batallón del Cuartel General, se constituye el 31 de Diciembre de 1997, en virtud a lo establecido en la Norma General 15/97 y según adaptación orgánica de resolución 562/71483/97 de 23 de Noviembre. Tiene como origen la Compañía del Cuartel General de la Comandancia General de Melilla, integrándose más tarde la Compañía de Policía Militar, Unidad de Inteligencia XVIII, Sección NBQ y la Música de la Comandancia General. El Acuartelamiento, donde inicialmente se ubicó, y hoy inexistente. Recibe su nombre del Coronel de Estado Mayor D. Gabriel de Morales Mendicutía, Jefe de las Tropas de Policía Indígena y Jefe de la Oficina Central. El Coronel publicó la 1ª historia general de Melilla y participó en las acciones del Barranco del Lobo en 1909, muriendo en la Posición de Annual, el 22 de Julio de 1921. (Se trata del cuartel de automovilismo). Desde el 1 de Mayo de 2008, la Unidad se traslada a las nuevas instalaciones situadas en la nueva base "Alfonso XIII"
