Pompeii Garden Fresco Companion Gold Plated Necklace

This is a gorgeous companion design from our Pompeii Garden Fresco photograph greeting and note card series. This is a beautiful necklace that is also available in sterling silver. Pompeii, the lost city, unearthed after centuries under volcanic ash from the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. The Pompeii Garden fresco was discovered in the House of the Gold Bracelet, and is a portion of a larger fresco that covered an entire back wall of the home. These paintings of lush vegetation created the illusion of a large garden, often where there was none, or only a small amount of green space. The portion of the fresco that our photograph and this design was created from shows a beautiful white dove perched on red branches highlighted with green leaves. In the photograph, the age and condition of the fresco is clearly evident. One can see the cracking and discoloration of the fresco after almost two thousand years buried under the volcanic ash, only to emerge a beautiful piece of art and history.
