Pop Art comes from popular culture, using themes of mass production, advertising, food, comic books, found objects, elevating the lowly to the grand, threatening the dominant ideology and challenging the common perception of "what is art". Often witty, sometimes absurd, with a keen sense of humor. Pop Art takes nothing seriously, even itself. As an artistic style it began in Britain in the 1950s and made an impact in America in the 1960s. Pop Art loves big bright colors and forms, repitition, manufacturing imagery, modern tools and materials of making. In this image the bright colors and forms in this image are emboldened by a post-process posterizing effect. Pop Art is one of my favorite artistic genres. It's on the leading edge of creation and continues to be as relevant today as it was in the early years of pioneers like people I can't mention due to copyright reasons, but you can easily find the info on Wiki if you're interested.
