Poyais Bank Note T-Shirt

The Poyais scheme of Gregor MacGregor is known as one of the most brazen confidence tricks in history. In the early 1800's he convinced almost 200 people to emigrate to a fabricated Central American colony called "Poyais". He went as far as exchanging currency to would-be settlers, selling official government positions, and issuing Poyaisian bonds on the London Stock Exchange. The front of this shirt displays an official bank note of the colony while the back features a small illustration of MacGregor captioned by one of the ballads composed to advertise Poyais.
