Zoo Junction is an important junction on Pennsylvania Railroads (Northeast Corridor)Main Line in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where The the Northeast Corridor meets the Keystone Corridor (ex-Pennsylvania Railroad main line).
Zoo Junction was a flying junction, where multiple tracks cross one another by bridge to avoid conflict with other trains.
In 1870 the PRR built the Connecting Railway from Frankford Junction to Zoo to bypass congested street running in Philadelphia. Instead of reaching the city directly from the north, the Connecting Railway turned west, crossed the Schuylkill River on a stone arch viaduct and then turned south to join the Pennsylvania Railroads Main Line at Mantua Junction.
In 1935 the interlocking reached its final form in conjunction with electrification and the construction of Zoo Tower and Substation,and 30th Street Station and PRR Suburban Station. In Between Zoo Tower and the river was the Philadelphia Zoo, which gave the interlocking its name. Photo Credit, Library of Congress.

Ordered this as a surprise for my nephew’s first birthday. It came out beautiful! So many joyful tears were she’d when it was unwrapped. Why then did I give this 4 stars? I made three attempts to order this through the app on my iPhone. First time, got all the pics loaded, clicked to resize it and lost everything. I tried again, this time, when I clicked on the “add to cart” button, the button froze and I couldn’t buy it. I nearly gave up. Three days later, I tried one more time and it went through that time. On a positive note, the collage came in record time, arriving the day before the party, though it was scheduled to arrive afterward. Overall, excellent product. High quality, well worth the $$$. Gorgeous!!! Paper quality is superb! Colors are vibrant! Everything is aligned beautifully. Only flaw, the picture had a 2 in scratch directly through the main photo. It’s an obvious scratch, one I was initially very bothered by. The sender had to have seen it and yet, still mailed it as it. I would have asked for a new one had I not needed to gift it the very next day. Otherwise, it’s stunning. I would definitely purchase again.
