Queen Bee Beekeeper's Beeswax Food Wrap Labels

Beeswax is naturally antibacterial, anti-fungal and antiviral. Beeswax food wraps are an eco-friendly alternative to plastic wrap for refrigerated and frozen food. To make beeswax wraps, place cotton fabric pieces on baking tray and sprinkle very lightly to edges with grated beeswax. Place baking pan in preheated 250-350F oven approximately 2-3 minutes --just until beeswax is melted-- then remove from oven. Smooth beeswax with paintbrush to edges of cloth - then lay flat or hang to cool and dry them. Before adding grated beeswax, you can very lightly sprinkle cloth with oil such as jojoba (antimicrobial) or food grade mineral oil to make the dried beeswax more flexible. These oils are do not go rancid quickly like other oils such as olive oil. Adding melted pine resin to beeswax makes cloth cling better but many people object to the pine odor on their refrigerated foods.
