The Story of the Rainer Owl So here’s how this happened. I’m walking Luna one evening, doing the usual “let’s sniff every blade of grass in Portland” routine, when I look up and — BAM — there it is. A massive owl, just chilling in the park like it owned the lease. Now, I don’t get out into nature as much as I’d like (city life + chaos = concrete instead of trails), so when nature literally flew into my line of sight, it felt like a sign. A glowing-eyed, winged, “you’re definitely being judged right now” kind of sign. I went home and thought: Yup… owl. And then my brain did the thing where it refuses to let go until it becomes art. Thus, the Rainer Owl was born. Why “Rainer”? Because this bird isn’t just an owl — it’s a Pacific Northwest owl. Big trees, misty skies, mountain moods, and just a hint of “don’t mess with me” energy. Exactly what you’d expect from a creature that looks like it could steal your soul and still be voted “Best Eyes” in yearbook superlatives. So yeah, that’s how this design came about. A walk with Luna, a stare-down with an owl, and a reminder that sometimes you don’t find nature — nature finds you.
