Raphael Cherub Gift Apron

This gorgeous apron for lovers of classical Italian Renaissance art features an oil painting of possibly the two most famous cherubs in the world. By the Italian painter and architect Raphael (1483 - 1520) the two winged angels resting on their elbows as they gaze upwards are part of a larger painting of the Madonna and child called "Sistine Madonna," or "The Madonna de San Sisti." Legend has it that Raphel, born Raffaello Sanzio, took his inspiration from the child models he used for the painting. Others say his inspiration for the cherubs were the faces of two young children he saw looking longingly at a baker's shop window!
