Red Poppies, In Flanders Fields Poem Triptych
This triptych wall art has a blurred image of a field with an in-focus red poppy on each side, and the middle has the famous war poem In Flanders Fields by John McCrae, a medical officer during WWI who worked in the trenches near Ypres, Belgium (traditionally called Flanders), tending to wounded soldiers. He wrote the poem after his best friend died. The deceased soldiers were placed in makeshift graves with simple wooden crosses on the battlefield, where wild poppies began to bloom between the crosses. The poppy is the symbol of remembrance of the First World War.
