Red-Whiskered Bulbuls in Brazil by RoseWrites T-Shirt

Red-whiskered bulbuls are Zika's most likely reservoir / amplifying host. And introduced species do very little wandering (which makes them the ideal biological weapon, if ever there was one). According to Okia et al. 1971, almost 1/2 of bulbuls tested had Zika. Introduced species have been recorded in the northeast Brazilian states of Rio de Janeiro (Gagliardi, 2011), Espírito Santo (Simon, 2010), and the northern coast of Bahia (Lima, 2006)—these regions are shown in red. One bird can infect 100s of mosquitoes and amplify a virus a billion times more than a human. Other places where I found either red-whiskered and red-vented bulbuls accidentally or intentionally introduced include: Australia (New South Wales), Los Angeles, Mauritius, Florida (Miami-Dade area), Hawaii, Houston (Heights area), Assumption Island, Mascarene Island, Saudi Arabia, Yap Island, French Polynesia, Singapore, New Zealand, and Japan. There may be other places. I encourage any and all scientists (especially at the FDA) to take it upon themselves to conduct independent research to test these birds. Any bird in the Pycnonotidae family should be a top priority for Zika and Wolbachia testing.
