The Redhaw Hawthorn, aka Siberian Hawthron, is native to southern Siberia, Mongolia and far northern China. The red berry-like fruit, a pome, is edible and used to make preserves. The small white flowers give off a carrion smell. The fruits and flowers of many hawthorns are known in herbal folk medicine as a heart tonic and modern research has borne out this use.
